Peru inspires amazement. With its rich and astonishingly varied landscapes, this country is one of only 17 in the world to be defined as megadiverse – meaning it harbors a staggering amount of the Earth’s species. Combine that with stunning scenery that has the power to stop travelers in their tracks, a compelling history and a legacy of fascinating cultures, civilizations and foreign influences, which have formed a harmonious ensemble that still exists today… Peru is not a simple country, but it is an endlessly appealing one. Our private luxury tours to Peru are designed to showcase all that is has to offer.
No custom Peru vacation, or indeed trip to South America, is complete without seeing that deservedly hyped New World Wonder, Machu Picchu, the ancient Inca city set high aloft in the Andes Mountains. The wonderment continues at Peru’s other intriguing locales: at the mysterious Nazca Lines, for instance; or at the grand, shimmering expanse of Lake Titicaca; the primordial landscapes of the Amazon rainforest; or the thoroughly modern urban environs of Lima, the gastronomic capital of the Americas. Travelers on our customized tours of Peru never fail to be amazed by the sights, the level of service and – above all – the warm and genuine welcome they receive. Whether you’re going on a family getaway or a luxury trip to Peru for two, you’re bound to enjoy exciting.
A shorter version of the Inca Trail leaves from KM 104, 2100 m (104 kilometers along the railway from Cusco to Aguas Calientes) and involves a four hour walk uphill to Wiñay-Wayna Complex 2700m followed by a couple more hours of walking to arrive at Machu Picchu. This 2-Day tour covers 16km of Inca Trail in the first day, connecting with the Classic 4-day trail at the impressive archaeological site of Wiñay-Wayna. (Only Inca Trail hikers get to enjoy these ruins !!!) The name means “Forever Young” in Quechua, the indigenous language, and is taken from that of the pink and purple orchid that grows here. Farming terraces, “Andenes”, surrounding the whole side of a mountain decorate this ancient Inca castle that includes temples, buildings and water channels. The stonework is high in quality with fine masonry and includes a magnificent sequence of fifteen ritual fountain baths. It was a religious centre, probably associated with the ritual worship of water. Chachabamba is another very interesting Inca complex that we will visit, hiding in the middle of the beautiful mountains and the lower part of the sub-tropical valley.
