Description
The Rainbow Mountian Trek 2D/1N a mountain of striations of colors embedded in the hillsides. best known as The Rainbow Mountain, it speaks for itself.Start hiking from the trailhead, accompanied by our local guide who can provide insights into the region’s history, culture, and natural features.
The trail will take you through beautiful valleys, rural communities, and picturesque landscapes. You may encounter llamas, alpacas, and local farmers along the way.
We ended up having a marvelous time and arrive to Cusco.
DAY 1: CUSCO-QESUNO-ANANTA
On the first day of your Rainbow mountain adventure, we will pick you up at your hotel at 4:00am and drive 3 hours to the trailhead. While packing up our gear near the trailhead, our chef will be preparing a hot breakfast to get you fueled up for the hike ahead of you. Our guides will go over the itinerary for the day and safety tips to ensure you are fully prepared for the next two days. The trek begins in a large green valley. There, you will see hundreds of alpacas, local farmers, and the beautiful Ausangate Mountain, towering high above. This is only a teaser for what is to come on your journey!
As you continue making your way on the trail, you will conquer the first pass of the trek, the Pucacocha pass. At around (4876mt, 16,000 ft), the pass sits just above Pucacocha Lake, and the massive Ausangate Mountain is directly in front of you. After a successful climb, we will stop around noon to eat lunch and recharge our bodies for the remainder of the hike.
Our destination for the night is Anata, where we will enjoy a beautiful evening surrounded by jaw dropping landscape at the base of the Andes Mountains. As the sun sets, we set up the dining tent with chairs for the group to relax and enjoy conversation while dinner is being prepared. This night you will see an unforgettable night sky full of constellations, shooting stars, and keep yourself warm with coca tea or hot chocolate made from Peruvian chocolate.

DAY 2: ANANTA – RAINBOW MOUNTAIN- CUSCO
Today is what you have been waiting for! Your chance to see the beautiful Rainbow Mountain, and the best part is you’re almost there! We will wake you up bright and early between 4am and 5am with coca tea delivered to your tent, and served a hearty breakfast to fuel you up for your final climb to Vinicunca (Rainbow Mountain). Upon arrival, you can take all the time you want soaking in the amazing 360-degree vistas of the surrounding lands and explore the mountain itself. Take some time to yourself and really enjoy the beauty of nature around you. It truly is a magical place. Then we will hike down for 1 hour to the Red Valley, enjoy the amazing red mountains and valley and finally we hike to the Llacto where we will have lunch and take our transportation back to Cusco (3 hours). Arrival time back in Cusco will depend on how long you want to spend on Rainbow Mountain and Red Valley, but we typically get back around 5pm and drop you off at your hotel.

**Huayna Picchu and Machu Picchu Mountain are optional treks within Machu Picchu Citadel which do not include a

Itinerary
We will pick you up early from your Cusco hotel and set out on a drive through the South Valley. The drive to the trailhead at Quesiuno (4,326 m / 14,189 ft) is 3 hours long. Once we reach the Inkintuyoc bridge, our chef will cook us an amazing breakfast. After breakfast, we will load all the gear on the horses and begin our hike uphill. Following a lovely stream, you will be immediately surprised by the literally herds of alpacas and llamas. We will have consistent views of the Ausangate Mountain. We will hike through villages and interact with the local residents. We have the opportunity to see chinchillas and vicunas. Vicunas are the only non-domesticated animal of the llama family in Peru. After at hike of 3 to 4 hours, we will reach our camp Ccayrabiri, near the village of Llamachimpana. Our chef will make us a fantastic lunch when we arrive. After lunch (time permitting), we will go to the village and have the chance to interact with the residents. They will tell us about their local customs and love to share their history with trekkers. They will tell us about the fields of potatoes that surround the area. We then return to camp where we will have happy hour and dinner. When night falls, we will have a serene night´s sleep under the stars. We wake up to a cup of hot coca tea and the gorgeous sunrise. Our chef will prepare an amazing breakfast to start the day. Our destination today is the Rainbow Mountain. This is a two hour uphill hike.On the way up, we will have consistent views of stunning red mountains, the Ausangate glacier and Surine Mountain.Finally, we reach our destination, what we came to see….the Rainbow Mountains (5,020 m / 16,466 ft). After getting over the shock of their beauty, we will have time to explore the area. We will have time to take pictures and soak in the environment. We will spend approximately 30 minutes at the top.At this point, it is time to go back down. We hike downhill the way we came. The hike will take 4 to 5 hours. Our chef will be waiting for us at the bottom with a hearty lunch.Following lunch, we will embark on the 3 hour drive back to Cusco and drop you off at your Cusco hotel. Approximate arrival time is 7 PM.
