Your group. Your departure date. Your private journey across Bolivia.
Day 1 – La Paz to Sajama National Park
Overnight: Sajama village lodge or Tomarapi Eco-Lodge, as confirmed
Your private Bolivia expedition begins with an early departure from La Paz. Travel across the high Andean plateau toward Sajama National Park, a spectacular region dominated by Nevado Sajama, Bolivia’s highest mountain.
Along the way, visit the Chullpas de Sajama, ancient pre-Inca burial towers that reflect the region’s rich archaeological heritage. Continue into the national park, where wide-open plains, high-altitude vegetation and volcanic scenery create a distinctive Andean landscape.
Depending on the day's schedule and local conditions, enjoy a visit to the Huayña Khota hot springs before settling into your accommodation.
Highlights: Nevado Sajama, Chullpas de Sajama, high-Andean scenery and hot springs.
Day 2 – Sajama, Tomave and Uyuni
Overnight: Hotel Luna Salada, subject to availability
After breakfast, continue south across Bolivia’s remote Altiplano. Observe the changing high-altitude scenery and traditional Andean settlements along the route.
Visit Tomave, known for its historic character and colonial church, before continuing toward Uyuni, the gateway to the famous salt flats.
Depending on arrival time, explore the Train Cemetery, where historic locomotives recall Bolivia’s railway history and offer striking photographic subjects.
Finish the day at Hotel Luna Salada, a salt-built hotel overlooking the remarkable landscape near the Salar de Uyuni, if confirmed in your booking.
Highlights: Andean villages, Tomave, Train Cemetery and salt-hotel accommodation.
Day 3 – Uyuni Salt Flats and the Mirror of the Sky
Overnight: Hotel Luna Salada, subject to availability
Spend the day exploring the immense Salar de Uyuni, the world's largest salt flat. Your private 4x4 allows your group to experience the landscape at a flexible pace within the permitted route and local safety conditions.
Visit Colchani to learn about traditional salt processing and local crafts. Continue across the salt flat toward Isla Incahuasi, famous for its giant cacti and expansive views when accessible.
Other stops may include Ojos de Sal, Flag Plaza and the Dakar Monument, depending on the day's route and access conditions.
If weather and surface conditions allow, enjoy a sunset photography session on the salt flat. During periods of shallow water, the surface may reflect the sky; in the dry season, the vast geometric salt patterns create a different but equally striking landscape.
Highlights: Salar de Uyuni, Colchani, Isla Incahuasi and sunset photography.
Day 4 – Uyuni, Colored Lagoons and Siloli Desert
Overnight: Tayka del Desierto or confirmed equivalent
Leave the salt flat region and travel south through the dramatic landscapes of the Bolivian Altiplano.
Visit Laguna Cañapa and Laguna Hedionda, where flamingos may be seen feeding in the mineral-rich waters. Continue toward the Siloli Desert and the famous Stone Tree, an unusual rock formation shaped by wind erosion.
Throughout the day, enjoy opportunities to photograph the contrast between lagoons, volcanic mountains, desert terrain and wildlife.
Arrive at your selected desert lodge for the evening, subject to availability and the final confirmed accommodation plan.
Highlights: Laguna Cañapa, Laguna Hedionda, Siloli Desert and Stone Tree.
Day 5 – Laguna Colorada, Geysers and Laguna Verde
Overnight: Mallku Cueva or confirmed equivalent
Begin early to explore Laguna Colorada, a striking red lake within the Eduardo Avaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve. Its distinctive color and resident flamingos create one of the most memorable landscapes in southwestern Bolivia.
Continue toward the Sol de Mañana geothermal area, where steam vents and bubbling mud pools reveal the region's volcanic activity. Later, visit the Polques hot springs when conditions and access permit.
Cross the dramatic Dali Desert and continue to Laguna Verde and Laguna Blanca, where mineral-rich waters contrast with the surrounding mountains and the imposing Licancabur Volcano.
End the day at your confirmed accommodation.
Highlights: Laguna Colorada, Sol de Mañana, Polques hot springs, Dali Desert, Laguna Verde and Laguna Blanca.
Day 6 – Mallku Cueva, Alota and Return to Uyuni
End of services in Uyuni
After breakfast, begin the return journey toward Uyuni through the extraordinary volcanic landscapes of the southern Altiplano.
Depending on road conditions and the confirmed schedule, visit Italia Perdida, an area of unusual rock formations, and Valle de las Rocas, where centuries of erosion have shaped the surrounding stone landscape.
Continue toward Uyuni, arriving according to the day's road conditions and the final transport arrangements.
Your six-day private Sajama and Uyuni expedition concludes in Uyuni, leaving you with memories of high-altitude wilderness, colorful lagoons, volcanic terrain and the remarkable Salar de Uyuni.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Sajama and Uyuni Salt Flats Tour
Is the 6-day Sajama and Uyuni tour fully private?
Yes. The tour is designed for the travelers included in your confirmed booking. We do not add unrelated travelers to your private departure. Vehicle capacity and the final arrangements are confirmed according to your group size.
What is included in the private Uyuni Salt Flats tour?
The proposed package includes private 4x4 transportation, five nights of accommodation, meals as specified, a bilingual driver-guide and the scheduled excursions confirmed in your quotation. Entrance fees and any additional services must be clearly confirmed before booking.
Can I book this Bolivia tour for 2027?
Yes. Contact Inca Land Adventures with your preferred departure date and group size. Your date and services will be confirmed after availability, accommodation and transportation have been checked.
What is the best time to visit the Uyuni Salt Flats?
The experience varies by season. During the rainy season, a shallow layer of water can create the famous mirror effect when conditions are suitable. During drier periods, the salt crust and its geometric patterns are often more prominent. Access to particular areas can change with weather conditions.
Will we see flamingos at Laguna Colorada?
Laguna Colorada is known for its flamingos, but wildlife sightings and numbers vary with season and environmental conditions. Your guide will help you observe wildlife responsibly without guaranteeing specific sightings.
Is the Sajama and Uyuni tour suitable for photographers?
Yes. The expedition offers opportunities to photograph volcanoes, salt-flat landscapes, colorful lagoons, flamingos and desert rock formations. The mirror effect depends on weather and water levels, and photography stops remain subject to access and safety conditions.
How difficult is the six-day expedition?
The route involves long drives, remote roads and high elevations. Travelers should be prepared for cold nights, strong sun, wind and possible altitude-related discomfort. We recommend arriving early enough to acclimatize and discussing any health concerns with a qualified medical professional before traveling.
Can I combine Bolivia with the Inca Trail in Peru?
Yes. You can plan a broader South American itinerary that combines Bolivia with Cusco, Machu Picchu and the Classic Inca Trail. However, the Inca Trail requires a separate reservation and official permit, so your dates should be coordinated carefully.
How do I reserve a private departure?
Send us your preferred dates, number of travelers and accommodation preferences. We will check availability, confirm the vehicle arrangement and provide a detailed quotation before requesting your booking confirmation.
