Continue to the Maras Salt Mines, known locally as Salineras de Maras. Thousands of salt ponds cascade down the mountainside, forming a striking landscape maintained by local families and communities.
Observe the traditional salt production process and learn how mineral-rich spring water flows through a network of channels into individual ponds. If time permits, you can visit the local sales area to learn more about the salt products made in the region.

Stop for breakfast in the Cusipata area, then continue by road to the trailhead used for the Rainbow Mountain excursion.
Begin the hike toward Vinicunca, also known as Rainbow Mountain, following the established route at a pace appropriate to the group and prevailing conditions. The walk provides views of the high Andes, mountain peaks and landscapes shaped by mineral deposits and erosion.
At the viewpoint, your guide will explain the geology of the colorful slopes and the environmental conditions of this high-altitude region. The final viewpoint is approximately 5,000 metres above sea level, depending on the route and exact stopping point.
After spending time at the viewpoint, return along the trail to the designated transport area. Travel back to Cusipata for lunch, then continue by road to Cusco.
