How Difficult Is the Huchuy Qosqo Trek?
The Huchuy Qosqo Trek is considered a moderate high-altitude trek. Although the route is shorter than the Classic Inca Trail, altitude and uneven terrain make proper acclimatization important.
Travelers should be comfortable hiking for several hours a day and walking on uneven mountain trails. The route includes ascents, descents and high-altitude sections, so we recommend spending at least a few days acclimatizing in Cusco before starting the trek.
Best Time to Do the Huchuy Qosqo Trek
The best time to hike the Huchuy Qosqo Trek is generally during Peru's dry season, from May to September, when rainfall is lower and mountain visibility is often better.
April and October can also be good options for travelers who prefer fewer visitors, although weather conditions can be more variable.
During the rainy season, from approximately November to March, the trail can become wetter and more slippery. Weather in the Andes can change quickly, so appropriate rain protection is recommended throughout the year.
